DESCRIPTION

This high-impact workshop day will provide education on high quality, evidence-based practices. The case-based learning format is designed for front line clinicians and trainees who have faced and will face the challenge of helping patients with substance use disorders. Clinicians who will benefit include nurse practitioners, physician assistants, primary care providers, emergency room providers, and other sub-specialists. Two morning and one afternoon options are available.

    WISAM WORKSHOP #1 (9:30 am - 12:30 pm)
    Naltrexone in Treatment for Alcohol and Opioid Use Disorders: Case Studies and Practical Applications

    WISAM WORKSHOP #2 (1:30-4:30 pm)
    Buprenorphine 2.0: I Have My X-DEA, So Now What? Case Studies and Practical Applications

    DESIGNATION: 

    The American Society of Addiction Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 6 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit (s). Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

    This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint providership of The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) and The Wisconsin Society of Addiction Medicine (WISAM). The American Society of Addiction Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.



    ASAM COURSE (8:00 am - 12:30 pm)
    The ASAM Treatment of Opioid Disorder Course: Focus on Buprenorphine
    Lead Presenter: Subhadeep Barman, MD; Co-Presenters: Ritu Bhatnagar, MD and Mark Lim, MD

    ASAM is an approved provider by CSAT/SAMHSA of DATA 2000 training. This blended format combines 4 hours of self-paced online learning with 4 hours of live learning for a total of 8 hours. The online portion is expected to be completed first as it covers the essential knowledge content. The live portion will focus on the clinical application of the content covered online using case-based discussions.

    Upon registration, learners will be issued access to the online portion of the blended course through the ASAM e-Learning Center.

    ACCME ACCREDITATION STATEMENT: The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.
